AES has state-of-the-art technology. Nearly every classroom has a ceiling-mounted projector and a SmartBoard interactive whiteboard. There are plenty of available document cameras, digital microscopes, digital cameras, data probes, video cameras, audio recording devices, GPS devices and scanners.
Our students are engaged in 21st century learning. In a typical classroom, regardless of the technology being used, you'll see students solving problems, thinking critically, being creative and innovative, communicating and collaborating. The technology department provides hardware and software to help teachers improve student learning, but 21st century learning can happen with or without computers.
Most of our 800-plus computers are laptops. We have enough computers available that any teacher who wants to use computers with their classes can do so. We have a large tech support team to help ensure that the technology is working the way it should. Most of our computers run Windows XP, although we have a class set of Mac laptops as well.
We recently completed a campuswide network overhaul, replacing the outdated cable and hubs with faster gigabit switches. Our wireless cloud covers most of the campus and every teaching space.
