Dear Parents,
We value and appreciate your attendance at our Back To School Night last evening. Hopefully you walked away with a sense of what your child's day is like, and had an opportunity to connect with other parents in the classroom. Our elementary teachers care deeply for their students and are excited about the year that is unfolding!
ELEMENTARY YEARBOOK COORDINATORS NEEDED: Help! We have had 3 wonderful editions of the ES Yearbook (2007, 2008 and 2009), and are seeking one or two enthusiastic moms to take over for this school year!! You will have license to create the yearbook of your dreams! I consider this a gift of love for our students who will treasure their AES memories for years to come!
CUB SCOUTS FOR GRADE ONE BOYS: Please read attached flyer if you have a son in grade one.
BONNIE CAMPBELL HILL: For those of you who were not able to attend Bonnie Campbell Hill's parent session on literacy, you may check out her website (bonniecampbellhill.com) where she has lots of valuable information on continuums, recommended books, and bookmarks you can print in various languages such as Korean, Italian, Spanish, Polish, etc. These bookmarks have recommended questions you can ask your child while he/she is reading a book to you. An important message delivered during her workshop was for parents to continue to read to and with their child in his/her first language and to read as a family! Your child in elementary school is never too old to be read aloud his/her favorite books! The parent session was also videotaped. If you wish to check out the videotape, please contact Punam in our ES office.
Best wishes to you and your family if you celebrate the EID holiday. In any event, enjoy the long weekend with your loved ones!
Warm regards,
Susan Young
