Preparing for the next stage after AES is an important part of the high school experience. AES counselors will work with students to select schools that seem a good fit for their talents, interests, abilities, and desires. Counselors hold essay-writing workshops, read drafts and offer suggestions. Counselors submit all the supporting documents that colleges and universities require. They are also available to provide guidance, help set deadlines, monitor the application progress, and generally “be there” for students when needed. They provide important resources and teach students how to use those resources to find the answers to the hundreds of questions during the application process.
Our goal as counselors is that every student ends up with choices they feel good about. Our philosophy is that “college is a match to be made, not a trophy to be won.” Counselors at AES focus on helping to identify colleges and universities that most closely fit each student’s interests, needs, achievements, and potential.
