Welcome to my profile! I have the pleasure of teaching General 6 Music which is an introduction to music appreciation, theory and performance; Intermediate and Beginning strings, and IB Music a 2 year program which covers history, theory, composition, analysis and performance.
I received my degree from San Francisco State University in Italian Language and Literature and a Minor in Music in vocal performance. My additional studies are from the Fiesole Conservatory and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London where I specialized in vocal performance. To understand music contracts I completed an intensive course in Entertainment Law. In addition to my professional vocal experiences I am also a cellist and certified in fencing (foil).
I have performed as a professional opera singer throughout the United States (including the New York Philharmonic), Europe and India, and have created and participated in many outreach programs for inner-city schools (Bronx, Brooklyn) and in India (over 10,000 children for outreach with the American Center). As part of the Austrian Cultural Forum I trained a choir of 27 Indian Children on behalf of the Ravi Shankar Centre and the Vienna Boys Choir to sing with the Vienna Boys Choir. My most recent non-singing performance (as a singer) was in an opera scene in Slumdog Millionaire alongside AES faculty alumni Tom Lehmkuhl.
I love teaching at AES-the diversity of the community and the students enriches my musical knowledge as we can learn so much more about each other's cultures through music.
